As a percussionist in a brass band, I couldn't help but check out this new anime, and I enjoyed the heck out of it. The anime is about a concert band as opposed to a brass band, however. A concert band seems to be a smaller version of an orchestra to me.

All the brass playing techniques were there, and the timpanist nailed the reason to play timpani- "it's a good way to relieve stress." Also, you feel a bit like Thor when you produce thundery rolls. (A good way to disguise your wind is behind a nice ff timpano roll.)

There were some techniques I haven't encountered here in New Zealand (probably because I didn't stick to brass- I got lost in the "pots and pans" department), like keeping a tissue in the air or running a lap before playing. I see that the percussion didn't have to run- nice. I agree physical fitness does help with mental clarity when playing a musical instrument- just anything but running! With a dedicated gym routine, I find that music is easier to grasp  in general, and you can sing higher notes. I have been known to do bicep curls so I could hold some rather hefty cymbals.

Also, the characters are fun and make good comedy. I'm eagerly waiting for the next installment!
As well as Sailor Moon Crystal, MLP:FIM, The Simpsons, Steven Universe, Sofia the First and Adventure Time.

Wow.... nearly a year later and I'm finally getting around to checking out 'Sound!Euphonium'. Only got as far as the opening song right now (LOVE IT!!!!), and plan to probably watch it while working on cross stitch in the evenings.

Looking back at the comments from last year, I blooming *LOVED* the 'Crusaders of the Lost Mark' episode of MLP:FIM. Cannot wait to see everything that season 6 holds (and if the season premiere is any indication of the rest of the season, it's going to rock socks)
